Have you ever tried to do things on your own, but nothing was working?
That’s what happens when we try to control and take matters into our own hands. I remember journaling one day and I could clearly hear the Lord say, “stop trying to do my job.” If we try to control every little thing in our life, we cannot walk in the freedom or breakthrough that God wants to bless us with.
How do we give up control and let God take the lead?
We must deny ourselves, take up our cross and follow the Lord daily. We must invite God into our every day. When we try to do things our own way it takes our focus off the Lord and we become more consumed with the worldly things than the eternal things. We must die to our flesh and continue to walk in the goodness of God as He has called us to do.
“For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.” - Romans 8:13
“Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” - Matthew 16:24
What does your daily schedule look like?
Are we waking up and scrolling social media?
Do we pray without ceasing when we are inviting God into our everyday routine?
Are we filling our hearts and minds with the things of this world or the righteousness and goodness that comes from our Heavenly Father?
Ask yourself these questions and examine your actions.
Are you inviting God into your every day?
Communication is a vital role in our walk with the Lord. We cannot expect God to be in our everyday schedule if we are not communicating or devoting our full attention to Him. God wants you to make your communication with Him a priority. Devote your time in consistent prayer within an alert mind, and thankful heart.
“Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.” - Colossians 4:2
Our time spent with the Lord should be top priority, it should never just be a check-off on our to-do list. Our heart and mind should always be in tune with the Holy Spirit. Sometimes we just need to stop what we are doing and begin to shift our focus on God.
What does that look like?
So… in what ways are you inviting God into your everyday?

What does that look like?
- Slowing down
- Resting in the Lord’s Presence
- Getting rid of all things that are distractions
- Seeking the Lord on a deeper level— a level that will grow us in ways like never before.
So… in what ways are you inviting God into your everyday?
