“Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord your God that he has given you.” - Deuteronomy 16:17
It’s not selfish to receive a blessing from the Lord. It’s actually the most selfless thing you can do, because when He blesses you, it’s not just for you. Yes, it benefits you, but we receive a blessing from God so we can turn around and give it to someone else.
(To be clear, I’m not talking about just money here either. I’m talking about communing with God. Opening yourself up to hear the word He wants to speak over you and the ways He wants to work through you.)
That person may need that blessing more desperately than you, so keep your ears and hands open to receive the blessing God wants to give you. Then don’t stop there. Ask Him who it’s for. Be faithful and obedient to give that blessing to the person He tells you to. We are His chosen vessels, but if we won’t receive from Him, how can He move?
Receiving the blessing is selfless because it will make you uncomfortable. It’ll stir up things you wanted left alone, but it will bear fruit more beautiful than you can imagine. So receive the blessing then give it away in your testimony.
