Give It Up

Stop trying to control and schedule the gifts God has given you, making it about production. It's about relationship. It's always been about relationship, and the second you try to make it about production, performance, or efficiency, you start to wear down and burn out.
I've written about control before and I'll probably write about it again and again because it's something I really struggle with.
I have the tendency to take the gifts God has given me and once I see the beauty of it, I begin to dream about how amazing it can be. Then, with the best of intentions, I excitedly begin brainstorming and mapping out how I can make that dream happen.
And just like that, I've taken God out of it. It can't work that way. I've taken the gift God gave me and I've taken over.
"For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a future." - Jeremiah 29:11

The problem is, my dreams are too small and my efforts fall short. God has an even bigger, better dream for His gifts than I could ever hope to imagine.
In fact, if He showed us His plans, we'd probably be too afraid to move in most cases. In His grace, He leads us day by day until we get there, but we have to rely on His strength instead of our own.
We have to let go of our desire to control everything.
I know, it's tough, but I believe we can do it.
Imagine what incredible things God has for us if we just let go of control of our lives and give it back to Him!
