What does it truly mean to rest in the Lord?
We as believers should be surrendering but also devoting our time and busy schedules to the Lord daily. When I think of resting in the Lord, I see it as a way for God to speak and for us to be silent and listen.
The Lord wants us to lay everything aside so that we can fully seek Him on a deeper level. A busy life can tend to weigh us down, but resting in the Lord’s presence brings us peace and draws us closer to Him. There will always be trials and tribulations in life, but the Lord has overcome the world just as His Word says.
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart, I have overcome the world.”- John 16:33
When we rest in the Lord, His peace and joy will surround us in our everyday lives. If we allow other things besides God to take place, and we don’t learn to rest in the Father, then we may miss out on the wonderful opportunities that the Lord has planned for us.
Are we allowing certain things to draw us away from God?
Sometimes the Lord just wants us to sit in silence so that we can be aware of what it is that He wants to speak to us. Learn to get away from the noise and distractions so that you can soak in His presence. When we begin to feel restless and overwhelmed in our busy schedules, remember that God promises to give us His rest.
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”- Matthew 11:28
So, are we willing to rest in the Lord, and set aside time for Him even when life is hard and chaotic?
