What is something that you are praying for in this current season?
Job opportunity?
Finances?
Healing?
Lost loved one?
Do we pray with an action of Faith, or do we only pray to get what we want?
God wants to answer our prayers, but sometimes the answer is not always instant or what we have planned. Sometimes the answer God gives us can be “Yes”, “Wait”, or “I have something better in store.” It is never on our own timeline, but it is always God’s timing.
What do these answers look like?
In the “Yes”- We can thank the Lord for answering our prayer just at the right time and walk in the blessing.
In the “Wait”- We can allow the waiting to grow and renew our Faith in the Lord.
In the “I have something better in store”- We can be reminded that God’s plan is far greater than our own, and He always knows what is best for us.
Often times, if our prayers are not being answered instantly, we have the tendency to give up on that specific need that we are praying for. Jesus taught His disciples that prayer is an intimate priority with our Heavenly Father that includes a dependency for daily needs, a commitment to obedience, and forgiveness of sin.
“One day Jesus told His disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.” – Luke 18:1
God invites us to bring all of our needs to Him in prayer, for nothing ever takes Him by surprise. He knows our thoughts, our struggles, and our words before we even speak or think.
Even if you have been praying years upon years, once that prayer has been answered, you can begin to fully walk into the blessings and remain thankful in the Lord’s goodness. We even have the authority to walk in the blessings now that the Lord has already bestowed upon our lives in this moment. The essence of prayer is humbly entering in the very Presence of God.
“Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.” – 2 Chronicles 7:14
There is more to prayer than just getting an answer to a question or a solution. God often does more in your heart through the act of prayer than He does in actually answering your prayer. As you persist in talking and listening, you often gain understanding of God’s nature and direction for your life.
“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.”- Matthew 7:7-8
