Don't Doubt

Matthew 14:31
And immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

The doubting of God’s word begins with a thought contrary to what is spoken. If the word of God is truth, how do we get to a place where we are now doubting the authenticity of it? Doubt is a tool the enemy uses to deter and discourage the heart of the believer. We know that the life we live now is by faith and not by sight. If the enemy can get us focused on what we see, he can cause us to doubt the truth or the word of God.

Doubt means a feeling or uncertainty or to call into question the truth of. It is a lack of confidence. It also means to consider unlikely. Bottom line, doubt is rooted in fear, not faith. It comes to kill, steal, and destroy faith in the lives of believers. The enemy doesn’t want us to walk in the belief that God is, and he is a rewarder of them who diligently seek him. He wants you to doubt that he has plans for you and that all things are possible with God. If he can get you to doubt, he can get you divided, and a house divided will not stand.  Because if the enemy can get you to start fearing the future again, you will doubt your life will ever change for the better.

We must remember who has the authority in our lives. The life we now live is in Christ. Even when our flesh is weak, we are made strong in and through Christ. The enemy comes at weak moments when our eyes are seeing a different story than the word Jesus spoke to us during our prayer time. Public display or the lack thereof can cause us to waver from what the truth speaker has given to us. But we must be like Mary when the angel came to her. We must accept what the Lord says and respond in faith. We must have this confession: That if he promised, faithful is he to perform it. We can’t allow the enemy to deceive us like he did in the garden. He presented a scenario that caused doubt even though they had the word of the Almighty God, the creator of heaven and earth. The serpent created a scenario that seemed true but was far from it. In that moment of doubt, sin entered the world.

When we doubt, we open our hearts to sin against God. Doubt will cause us to disobey God and turn from him and what he desires to do in our lives. If you allow doubt to enter your mind, it will get in your way and blind you to the truth. It will be false evidence appearing real. That’s what fear stands for, and doubt will enter the chat and potentially seal the deal.

Doubt has done enough damage to your faith and your life. It’s time to take back your destiny and follow through with what the Lord has spoken. You may be in the middle of a situation but keep going. Let your faith be louder than the fear and doubt that’s screaming at you. Remember the Lord comes with a small still voice. The enemy is always loud because it wants to be seen and heard, but you don’t have to give in to him to it any longer. Allow your faith to be on fire. It will burn doubt right out of the way.
