Intelligence or All Knowing; The Dangers Of AI

We live in a world now, where the answers are at our fingertips. We ask a question, and we get instant answers. Anything from recipes, relationship advice, what colors look best on me, the questions are endless. I was an avid ChatGPT user. Notice I said was. ChatGPT was my go-to for quick, somewhat accurate information. My personal favorite thing to do was use it to rearrange the rooms in my house, giving me a new look for my home. The results were beautiful and made me want to go out and start turning my home into an Ai generated home. Because it looked good.

Ai, if you don’t know, stands for Artificial Intelligence. It is a robot or chatbot that uses algorithms to supply its users with answers instantly. It can do anything from giving you a projection to what your children will look in in 10 years, responses to emails/messages, to even giving you biblical principles and theologies. And it is very good at it.

In my experiences with ChatGPT or Ai, I found a sense of gratification of being able to have all the answers to my questions right at my fingertips. But it just took one thing to open my eyes and see the evil that Ai really is.

A little back story, I had a dream. I woke and wrote my dream down immediately and prayed that God would help me to interpret this dream and give me the answers I was seeking. Instead of waiting for His answer and seeking Him in my tent time, I thought “Hey, let me ask ChatGPT to break down this dream in a biblical way”. So, I went to the app and began to tell this chatbot about this dream. I got an answer within seconds. It broke down this dream piece by piece, gave me scriptures to coordinate with what it was telling me, and analyzed every part of this dream down to even the smallest detail. And it sounded great. It was spot on, and it was what I wanted to hear.

I then told my husband, Jamie, what I had done, and he immediately said, “I don’t like that”. I defended the response it gave me and questioned him on why he didn’t like it. His response was because Ai is terrifying. I told Jamie what ChatGPT had told me about the dream, and he nodded and was just as amazed as I was. But still, his response was the same. I don’t like that.
And as he said these words, it opened the door to a conversation, and the Lord immediately opened my eyes to the problem that I put myself into. At that moment, I let a robot take the place of the Lord. Instead of taking the time to sit and listen to the Lord and His truth about the answers I was seeking, I turned to an instant source that would give me the answer I was looking for. It had become my idol. My golden calf.

John 14:1-6 says:
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go and prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.” Thomas replied to Jesus and asked him how do we know the way? Jesus responded in verse 6 and said “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

We have reached a place in our culture where we are reaching for the truth, but we are reaching for an artificial truth. Jesus tells us that He is the truth. We can also look into Matthew 6:31 where Jesus is giving his Sermon on the Mount. He says in verse 31 that we should not be anxious saying, what shall we eat? Or what shall we drink? Or what shall we wear? For the Gentiles seek after these things and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.” And in verse 33, Jesus tells us “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

The 4 most asked questions that ChatGPT receives are as follows:

1. How do I actually do this? 2m+ queries a month.
Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to Trust in the Lord with all our heart and do not lean on our own understanding. In all our ways we are to acknowledge Him, and he will make our paths straight. When we ask Ai how do I do this, we are completely shutting out the Holy Spirt and the not trusting that the Lord will give us the answers. Philippians 4: 6 tells us “But in everything through prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” We are in fact turning from God and relying on our own understanding or in this case Ai’s understanding.

2. Can you please do my homework? 3m+ queries a month.
This question is creating a lazy and procrastinating generation. Proverbs 13:4 says the “soul of the sluggard (lazy) craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied.” Ephesians 5:15 says “we are to look carefully how we walk and not to walk as unwise but as wise, making the best use of our time because the days are evil.” Not only are we creating a lazy and procrastinating generation, but it also opens the door for a broken commandment. Thou shall not lie. You lie, you fry.

3. What exactly do I say? 1.5m+ queries a month
This shows that Ai has become the go-to confidant for dilemmas. Confrontations are biblical. But we have to rely on the Holy Spirit and lead with love in those times when it is needed. Galatians 6:1 instructs us who are spiritual to restore anyone who is caught in transgression with gentleness. 2 Timothy 3:16 says “that all Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, reproofing, for correction, and training in righteousness.” So, what exactly do we say? This is where we turn to the Holy Spirit and allow Him to speak through us, through His Word, and prayer.

4. Why are relationships this complicated? 1m+ queries a month
Relationships can be complicated. Ai tells us in a “neutral 3rd party” perspective on how to deal with our relationships. Whether it’s a question about our spouse, or a question regarding our children, Ai will give us an unbiased answer. When looking for answers about our relationships, the only one we should be turning to is Christ. He is the example. “Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.” 1 Peter 4:8. If we truly want to know the answer to relationships, we need to look at scripture. 1 Corinthians 13 talks about the ways in which love operates. Jesus also tells us in Matthew 22:37-39 to “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all of your soul and with all of your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Perhaps it isn’t the relationship that’s complicated – maybe we just aren’t willing to look at ourselves?

We can’t stop technology. That’s the simple fact. The more we grow as a society, the more Ai and technology is going to grow. But I want to encourage you to research and dive into this topic on your own. I want to challenge you to compare it to scripture just as I have. I thank God for my husband, and the Lord for opening my eyes to the evil that Ai is becoming. Yes, there are some benefits to Ai, and it can be great tool to use. But eventually, its going to be the only tool we turn to; therefore, it is eliminating the use of our bibles and God all together. How can God be in that?

While researching this, I came across a blog that said “Ai cannot be saved spiritually. It has no soul, no emotion, it does not know the truth and therefore cannot be set free.” How can God be in that?

Now I am not saying Ai is the devil or the anti-Christ. But what I am saying is that it is deceptive, it is manipulative, and it gratifies your flesh. All these things go against Gods word.
Ai is replacing human contact and interactions with generated answers. It causes us to retreat because why do we need to ask another person their thoughts and ideas when we have a Chatbot who can answer for us, the way we want to hear it. It closes the door to all conversations and thus closes the door to our hearts to receive what another person has to say. It gives us false hope and eliminates Gods voice in the midst of our troubles. How can we learn to trust Him, and rely on Him for the answers when our go to is a robot?

There is so much evil behind Ai. I know many may look at it differently and that’s okay. I pray that the Lord opens your eyes to this, just as He did mine. I have seen countless videos of people turning to Ai as their God who provides them with everything they need. The enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy, and when we turn to Ai for answers, instead of lifting our concerns and questions to God, we will eventually get to the point where we don’t think He is needed any longer.

So, are we turning to the one who was created because of its “intelligence” or are we turning to the one who is the Creator and is all knowing?

Ephesians 6:10-18
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle with flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
